Landmarks Around The World Turned Half Their Lights Off
Yesterday, some of the most iconic landmarks around the world turned half of their lights off.
This demonstration is part of the #MorePowerfulTogether campaign from HeForShe and UN Women.
“Skylines in major cities around the world won’t shine as brightly this evening. That’s because landmarks around the world will turn off half of their lights, creating a visual metaphor that illustrates the power lost when the world excludes half its population – women- from society, economies and communities. Women’s full and equal representation marks one of the world’s largest untapped resources, as study after study shows that companies and societies not only benefit, but prosper, from gender equality. The data consistently shows that we are #MorePowerfulTogether” A spokesperson for HeForShe said.
Some of the landmarks that participated in this demonstration include the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building and Capitol Hill.
