What to do for Mother’s Day
This Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day where we celebrate and honour motherhood, maternal bonds but also the influence of mothers in society.
There are various ways to show our appreciation and love for our mothers or the person we view as a motherly figure, and as a kickstart, we have collected some ideas for helping you to organise a beautiful Mother’s Day for whomever you want to thank and give something back.
So for starters, everyone loves a nice or funny card. If you haven't gotten one yet – no worries! You can still get one in the next couple of days, many card shops have extra opening times right before Mother’s Day. And if you are there, keep your eyes open since many shops offer special packages, including cards, (alcoholic) beverages, candles or other things that will brighten the recipients day. As an additional last-minute tip: many card shops start offering discounts on cards the day of Mother’s Day, so if you are a student or simply on a budget, keep your eyes open for these special offers as well.

Equipped with sweets, cards, flowers or simply your love, now it is time to think about what to do on Mother’s Day.
Since it's their day, it might be a good idea to ask your motherly figure (clandestinely, if you want to surprise them) if they have something they would love to do. But even if they do not have any specific wishes, there are plenty of other opportunities. Most restaurants offer Mother’s Day specials, with set menus or substantial discounts.

If you want to pamper them for the day, several department stores offer various ‘Mother’s Day pampering’ packages where your loved one can relax together. Also, a nice idea, especially if you are on a budget or your chosen venues are booked out, is a picnic. The weather looks like it will be in your favour, all over the UK the forecast is promising sunshine for the weekend (but we are in Britain, so take an umbrella and a blanket, just for sure). Spending time together with your loved ones with delicious food (bought or self-cooked) in a forest, park, or even a roof-terrace will definitely create some wonderful memories.
Finally our last advice: Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity for you to thank your mother (figure) for everything she has done for you and show how much she means to you. However, the best present you can give is to show your appreciation throughout the whole year, not just that particular day. But of course, it is also great, to highlight it every once in a while on a particular day.
Having said that, we at the Simple Press would like to thank all kinds of mothers around the world for their hard work and we wish you a lovely Mother’s Day!
