AmazonSmile: Swapping Links Can Save Lives
Do you shop at Amazon? Of course you do, have you heard of Amazon Smile? Probably not. Amazon Smile is not a new initiative by any measure. However, we’re shockingly surprised as to how few people had heard of it when it has the potential to improve countless lives across the U.K.
“AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice.”
The only difference is the difference in the url. For U.K. customers, we would traditionally use www.amazon.co.uk, but by simply switching to smile.amazon.co.uk 0.5% of all your purchases will go towards charity.
At the time of writing, a cumulative £1,659,381 has been donated to charities across the nation. So, by making a minute change in an era of “smart” and “sustainable” shopping, your purchases could be helping charities that do vital work across the U.K. Whether it’s a charity fighting homelessness or animal cruelty; a plethora of lives could be improved by merely adding a “smile” when you shop at Amazon.
