Nike Just Did It: Colin Kaepernick
Colin Kaepernick has been named the face for Nike’s 30thanniversary “Just Do It” Campaign.
Kaepernick made the announcement on Twitter by posting a photo which said “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything”.
Although the outrage has yet to settle on this announcement, we want to step away from the criticisms and highlight its importance.
Nike not only sponsors every NFL team and a large variety of US College football teams, but it also sponsors sports and athletes around the world.
This is not the first time big businesses and politics have become intertwined. However, it’s arguably the first time a brand with as big an influence as Nike, a brand that’s been consistently voted one of the most valuable by Forbes, has taken such a stand.
